Sprint Series #5 @ Seneca Park

2 --> 3 took the trail route rather than the edge of the field. I saw that option first and decided that it would work for me. I figured that considering other route options would use up more time than it would be worth

5 --> 6 it shows a little error. I was a little cautious going down the little hill so that slowed me down a bit.

8 --> 9 went around rather than through the green

10 --> 11 a big error. I was trying to push hard to get in and just assumed I'd see 11 off of the mail trail. Once I saw 12 I knew I had to be close, but by that time I had to backtrack. It looks so obvious now when I'm not running!

11 AM

Orienteering race 44:46 [4] 6.5 km (6:53 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia 7 - Green

Score-O at Seneca Park, 45 minutes

Points were set-up such that low point controls were farthest away - interesting and successful way to try to level the playing field.

I went south with a group before heading north. After the boulder control (#3 from the sprint) I went toward the river, expecting to pick up that cluster, but I realized that those would be better picked up on the way back, so I took a somewhat sub-optimal route out to the low point controls. The low point cluster was lots of fun to clear - many options and quick decision points.

Headed back and got the rest of the controls - had to run through someone else's party on the way past the pond, but I really didn't have much time to spare.

A few newer faces there today, some of whom are trail runners.

Golf 1:30:00 [1] 2.0 mi (45:00 / mi)

Back 9 at GVP. Three pars but still shot 51. The time is accurate, though we weren't rushing. A slow foursome let us right through which kept us moving nicely.
