Official Billygoat training run #18
West Point Red long course. A bit sloopy on #4 - lost contact with map and took 4-5 minutes to relocate. Was very tired going up the hill to #7, but recovered and was able to keep moving to the finish. Very happy with run and no major problems.
Continuing fieldwork at Blue Mountain. Better weather - at bit cooler and certainly less humid. Bugs are out in force and saw another garter snake pretending to be a stick. He stayed completely frozen until I moved around him.
Another interesting mapping tidbit. It appears when the map was updated from the 1980 version they used the 1980 version as the base map. A lot of the features on the 1980 map were generalized. In quite a few cases the update did not change the look of the feature. When you get to a cliff, its shown as a straight line. But it has a distinct bend when you see it in the terrain. Some of these I've updated, but I don't have the time to get them all corrected.
Official Billygoat training run #17. Slog of the dead legs. "Ran" at Kittatiny SP with PR. Legs were completely shot after the 6 hours of woods time yesterday.
Continuing work on Blue Mountain. Got very warm and buggy in the afternoon and called ita day around 3:45. Legs felt a bit tired, but noother body parts complained.
Amusing incident #1. Saw a rock feature that was near a mountain bike trail I was mapping. Couldn't get it to line up properly with the trail. Darm mapper. When I got home I checked to see who mapped this area when the map was produced. The answer. You guessed it.
Amusing incident #2. Went to hang a control streamer and couldn't figure out why I mapped the feature as a cliff when it looked like a large boulder cluster. Yup. Wrong location, Doh.
