Orienteering race (NSW sprint) 21:32 [5] 3.7 km (5:49 / km) +60m 5:23 / km

was much happier with todays run compared to yesterday.

Hit 1 well, immediate stairs to the right may have been faster, but it probably would have taken longer to figure it out and run that way.

found Jock approaching 7 from the wrong direction and we hit it at the same time, he led me to 8 then he took a better route to 9 where I lost him, until I beat him to 10 and found him approaching it from the other direction.

clean run until I came out of 11 travelling SW .. SE or NE were the two route choice options but I picked it up quickly but was behind Jock again ..

missed the turnoff to 12 but only just, Jock was further ahead down the road so got ahead of him again, then was racing the rest doing my best to stay ahead of him, which I managed to do.

Patrick caught me at 21 starting 2 minutes behind me, I would have liked to hold him off ..

I would say the 2 mistakes on 11-12 cost me about 15 seconds, other than that it was a clean run, route choices were good, some were not optimal but all were made quickly and on the run (or walking up stairs) and were executed as planned, so I am pretty happy.

shoes: New Balance

Started very poorly, hit the start then went forward .. could not get the map to fit, couldn't find the big ovals that i was running towards on the map, tok about 20 s to realise where i was and where i needed to go, which was in the opposite direction.

had agood run 2-12 then coming out of 12 headed for the wrong set of stairs, so had to get back down them and go up a different set, struggled to run hard the rest of the way, had to avoid some zombies near 17

will try to remember to look at which way people leave the start in future ...

shoes: New Balance

1 error at 6, went left then past the building i was planning to go behind, saw some stairs which i couldn't see on the map, ended up past the control scratching my head ...

avoided following but taking alternate route choices probably added to the error.

wasn't too happy with speed compared to those around me.

went for a quick jog, was hot .. felt a little better than the last couple (same route) but did stop for a drink, and a quick chat to a friend i passed by near the end.
