Note
(rest day)

Flight to California. Forgot to bring my saline spray on the flight, so had a massive earache for the rest of the day. But, on the bright side, Boris and I were met at the airport with first-class service by our amazing friend Misha, who gave us a California survival kit: everything we need to fight poison oak, trail mix, gatorade, water, pens, extra compass, all of the info on the Boggs meet, and some extra Bay area maps.

Running warm up/down 3:00 [2] 0.43 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: 2008 VJ Integrators

Orienteering 42:40 [4] 4.8 km (8:53 / km)
shoes: 2008 VJ Integrators

CSU A-meet, long distance. Did the first 10 controls (roughly half of the course), and then decided to quit because of the heat.

Running warm up/down 6:32 [2] 1.05 km (6:13 / km)
ahr:140 max:161 shoes: 2008 VJ Integrators

Jogging around the parking area with Erin. HR unusually high.

Orienteering 47:50 intensity: (10:00 @3) + (37:50 @4) 5.2 km (9:12 / km)
ahr:166 max:180 shoes: 2008 VJ Integrators

CSU A-meet, first middle distance. Started off well with a good route to the first control, but then took some time to get into the map - I ran through the green and over the hills instead of going around on trails, I had major trouble relating map to terrain near #5, and then after standing around drinking water at #7 I forgot to punch. And then I walked up and down the hillside looking for #9. Not very impressive, but I needed some time to figure things out.

COMMENT: I can't believe how high my HR was! It didn't go up to 180 even last weekend, when I was running as hard as possible at Tiomila. And this time I jogged into the finish, so it must have gone up that high somewhere out on the course!

Orienteering 55:10 [5] 6.13 km (9:00 / km)
shoes: 2008 VJ Integrators

CSU A-meet, second middle race. I understood the map a lot better this time, so the navigation was fine, but I felt absolutely horrible. Couldn't breathe, felt like I was burning up and couldn't do anything cool myself down. Had to actually stop several times, and walked most of the second half of the course, even on the big trails!

Note
(rest day)

No time to train today - lots of walking around Manhattan, then a late night out with friends.

Running 12:00 [2] 2.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Cumulus 2009

Early morning jog (doing loops around one small grassy field in Fort Tryon Park) while looking at the Boggs model event map. Temperature was perfect for running.

Note

Got an MRI and Xray done of my left foot this morning. Xray doesn't show anything special, and MRI results should be available next week.

Note

Here is a picture of my Tiomila team, self-nicknamed "The Squirrels." In order from left to right are legs 1-5: Emma Isaksson, Lena Kask, Kat Orekhova, Jennie Hellström, Mari Troeng.

Cross-Training (biking) 20:00 [1]

Some more easy biking, while looking at a mountain map from Spain. My quads are still really sore, but at least the pain is gone. This week is going to be *really* easy...

Strength Training (core+arms) 17:00 [1]

Stability 5:00 [1]

Eccentric training with 30 kgs today.

Stretching 5:00 [0]
