Orienteering race 50:00 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) + (5:00 @4)
shoes: Inov8 OROC

Vampire orienteering! Due to hordes of young ones showing up for this kooky orienteering event, there weren't enough maps to go around. So instead of running separately, Kate and I teamed up (which we almost never do!) and shared a map. As it turned out, we had even more fun together, since we found an immunity pumpkin early on (it protects you from vampire attacks), and took turns carrying it the whole way (we both have bruises on our shoulders). We had to communicate a lot about where we were going, and at a pumpkin-laden trot, we managed to clear the course! That's something I've never done at vampire-o before, and it was great fun to do it in this way with Kate. Yay, orienteering, and yay, us.

Road Cycling (Commute) 58:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (28:00 @3)
shoes: Jamis Touring Bike

The combined ride into/out of the office. Pleasant day for riding.

Climbing 30:00 [3]

Climbing with Sheila and Kelly!

Did 3 routes. Warmed up on a 5.7, then did two 5.8s.

My second route had a crux that took me a few tries, and I got past it, but then was toast after that effort and didn't want to spend the last 1/8th of the route flailing. So I didn't quite finish it, but want to come back to it again.

Was conservative with just 3 routes. I'm not sore, and I think I should at least climb 4 next time. Maybe add bouldering too.

I'm also being conservative with route difficulty. It's more satisfying to me to do a 5.8 well, then the b-s my way through a 5.9.

Trail Work (Yard Work) 3:00:00 [1]

Helped my dad move dirt around in the back yard! I love manual labor.

Cyclocross race 39:00 intensity: (19:00 @3) + (20:00 @4)
shoes: Kona Jake the Snake

Race at Magnuson. Not feeling peppy or super motivated, and the results showed; I placed far lower than usual. But it was still fun, and finally muddy! This whole season has been sunny so far, which is weird.

Though speaking of mud... holy crap, these 'cross races really tear the grass a new one in these parks. Orienteering is FAR less impact than this!

Also, I saw a dad and son racing on a tandem, and the dad was dressed as a banana and the kid as a monkey. They were rockin'. That's how you 'cross.
