Pain and swelling on both sides of the knee. Kneecap felt "loose" and pressing on it induced significant pain. I was reduced to walking during a 6 mile run on the roads. I believe it is similar to "runner's knee". It feels like the knee is not tracking correctly. I had a similar injury 2 years ago that took me out for 1-2 months.

I took a day off from running and iced about 10 times with a pack of frozen peas and an ACE bandage. I also did strength exercises for my medial quad muscle. The next two days I took easy and made sure to run more on my mid-foot which seemed to activate the muscles in such a way that the knee tracked correctly.
