Courses by Pat Meehan. A rainy and windy but unseasonably warm day welcomed orienteers to Joyce Park. Near-record temperatures approached 70F (21C). One control on red and green course needed to be replaced with a new control described as “riverbank”, after a control placed the night before was found to now be on an island surrounded by the rushing torrents of the Great Miami River. By the time of control pickup, the island itself had almost completely vanished beneath the churning waters, and wagers were being made as to whether the control would ever be recovered. Thanks to all volunteers who helped with this event!
