"The warmest day of the year" started in the teens and climbed to just under freezing, and it was a relief compared to the frigid cold that course setter Pat Meehan braved on Saturday, where he spent six hours placing controls in a 100 acre park. It took so long because he had to use a hammer to drive a screwdriver into the frozen ground to get the stands into the ground.
There were a surprisingly high 64 starts. The forest was thick with honeysuckle.
Rob Minto put out an Ultrasprint designed by Greg Ahlswede as practice and marketing for the US national junior teams.
