Race Evaluation

Flying Pig X (OCIN): Classic-Red

cmorse

1. Quick look at map confirmed lots of climb early, so decided to not push too hard on hills to conserve some energy. Trail, then over the top, carefully picking my way through the debris
2. straight
3. stayed low, just above green to open land, considered going up spur, but took trail around to N until white woods and contoured in on index contour. Easy and clean, but not sure saving that little climb was an advantage.
4. straight over on the line
5. +01:00trail looked good on latter half, but ended up going straight as the green didn't look so bad, but weak attack point from top had me slightly left, quickly noted double gully on wrong reentrant (without dropping down), but vegetation above correct reentrant forced me wide and around from other side
6. trail, then picking off top of reentrants to dark green spot by trail, then careful bearing - no problem
7. trail wide right, then right across the plateau
8. +01:30back across plateau into the white gap wide right of line and then straight over. Picked up a game trail going downhill to stream just before control which pushed me left, got tangled in green getting back to control - didn't see gulley in vegetation
9. straight
10. left of line, combination of trails and fencelines, east of pond and in
11. trail to road, about 125m S on road, then cut through woods to major trails which I followed most of the way there. didn't want to chance the direct route with dark green, but might have been ok
12. straight - actually nice clean running in the marsh proper - 6-8" of water, but no entangling vegetation
13. bearing, dead-on. when I downloaded, the SI system showed no splits (or finish time) for the rest of my course, but the operator said the computer had cleared me and recorded a finish time, just didn't calculate splits or elapsed. I hit all controls ok, everyone beeped - don't know what the problem was, but I was driving eastward ASAP, so didn't stick around to find out...

18. popped out of woods and misread contour on opposite side of road, ran down road 20m or so, then realized my error and came back
