Race Evaluation

Colorado 5-Day: Day 2: blue

mindsweeper

1. +00:30Was heading over to the spur, but map was a bit weird and I zig-zagged a bit. When I finally found the spur I ran straight down it.
2. Down spur and contour in.
3. Again, over to spur. Then through clearing and compass / map reading in.
4. Up and over, find the spur with the clearing, down.
5. Was considering taking the road, but runnability was too high. Went straight (up and down) until big spur, then up until it inflects into a reentrant. Then counted reentrant until I spiked it. Passed a lost Mark Voigt at the 2nd to last reentrant.
6. Possibly a poor route choice up reentrant and contouring to the right. Would have been better to go straight through the clearing. There was a very nice saddle to attack just before the control. Magnus and Mark Voigt caught up to me at this control.
7. Tricky control, trying to navigate and also keep up with Magnus and Mark. Went a bit higher than them.
8. Hm... don't remember how I did this, must have been following Mark or been oxygen deprived or both.
9. +00:30Straight, over spurs etc. Could still see Mark for half of the leg.
10. Contoured a bit to the left, but ended up crossing second road close to saddle. Then had to climb up again. Missed slightly to the left.
F. Out of steam - a pretty awful finish. Overall a pretty good run though.
