Race Evaluation

GAOC Georgia Navigator Cup Forest 2-Day: FDR SP: W21E

bhall

1. Fine, had to remind myself to not push too hard uphill but other than that ok.
2. Ok, up the hill to the saddle, could have skirted around the top but I just went all the way up. Felt like I was reading contours well.
3. P P Ok, a little slow once I got over the spur cause I hesitated with the lower reentrants but realized that I needed to go further and the other controls didn't draw me off much.
4. All good, said to myself part way through "this is 1:15, it's going to take longer than you expect" which it did indeed do.
5. Up through the saddle, then down and to the trail, went down the trail a tad and then skirted around the spur. Tried to stay higher up until after the reentrant.
6. totally fine
7. P Made sure I was keeping good track of exactly where I was, where I hit the trails, and then used the cliff to check the reentrant I went up to over the spur. All good.
8. R I don't think I made a smart route choice on this one, but I just followed the trail all the way. I was feeling worried about getting really tired too early in the race and the trail allowed me for a brain break and also limited dropping and climbing over and over so I just went with it. Think it would've been better to at least have cut some corners such as up the reentrant past eleven to the trail junction.
9. Side-hilled and dropped on the spur of 8 and then cut up at the rocks and bend in the stream, was totally fine getting over from there.
10. Easy up the reentrant and over the saddle. Cliffs are a lot smaller here than in New England
11. Down to the stream then up to the trail, used the trail all the way. Very nice brain break and easy running. Appreciated my time on it.
12. Up and Up and Up. Could see it from pretty far away but getting to it took a while.
13. P R Tried to stay higher around, definitely think I should've just dropped down into the reentrant and followed along that. Did extra distance and on rocky ground too. Not smart.
14. totally fine up and over the saddle
15. Stayed too low on the side of the hill but kept good track of the reentrants so was fine.
16. P Did not check my compass carefully out of 15, had no idea where I hit the trail, had to wander up the trail to figure out where I was.
17. P Was stupidly slow but yanno
