Race Evaluation

GAOC Georgia Navigator Cup Forest 2-Day: FDR SP: W21E

bhall

1. Fine, skirted around as opposed to going up and over. Green was really obvious which helped.
2. lmao this was a big mess. I was fine for the first bit, exactly where I needed to be on the spur, and then I suddenly was like, have I gone around far enough? Saw a control further down and was like, ya, definitely don't think that's right but let me just check anyways. Surprise surprise it was not my 2, but it was my 13 so at that point I knew exactly where I was and could go from there. Lost 2 minutes, Elsa caught me at the control. Really don't know what I was thinking.
3. Alright but I stayed a little too low on the spur for a while and had to go up more to get into the left-ern most reentrant. Stayed higher than the others I was with at that point though which was definitely the right option.
4. Stayed at the tops of the reentrants, got up to the road/powerline right before they cross, used the spur (far side of the rocks) and followed it down a bit, then contoured over to four. All good, though slow up the hill at first. Managed to drop Elsa (think she was tying her shoe?)
5. Thought about going almost straight, then realized that dropping down into the big reentrant wouldn't actually lose me many contours so I followed along that, crossed over the round spur a bit higher and then contoured around. Stopped short at the first reentrant, hesitated, dropped too low and then recognized that I must not have gone far enough. Lost time, Elsa caught back up to me.
6. totally fine
7. Got right back up on the spur and onto the trail which was actually pretty obvious and decent running despite it being indistinct.
8. To the trail and down a bit before cutting off into the reentrant and back up, cut off the road just below the earthbank and found the ditches with the split, could see the control shortly after that. Dropped Elsa here.
9. Way overshot the spur, ended up on the second one, took a bit for me to realize it and looked over to see Elsa punching it, aka she passed me again.
10. Totally fine, recognized that the ditch was a bit further on the spur and Elsa stopped a bit short so I caught up to her again.
11. Went up the reentrant immediately, then contoured around. Got ahead of Elsa for a bit, then she caught up again cause I was a little bit too low.
12. Speedy down the reentrant.
13. Just along the edge of the hill til the giant reentrant. There were some treacherous holes in this area and I ended up shin deep a couple times. Made me a bit weary.
14. Run down, find the earthbank along the ditch, fine.
15. Straight to the trail
F. Head to head with Elsa - fun!!
