Race Evaluation

Flying Pig IX: U.S. Short Course Championship: Red

ebuckley

1. straight
2. slightly right to avoid the medium green
3. straight
4. along the stream for a bit (fast running next to the stream) and then up the wide spur. Over the little knoll (there was a green control there) and between the dark green patches.
5. basically straight. did use the trail to get out to the road
6. started straight, then decided to cut through the little field on top of the hill. Not a good choice as others told me the running left of the line was quite fast.
7. linear marsh then right of the medium green and across the creek. Started looking for the control as the vegetation greened up. I felt this was my best leg of the weekend.
8. +01:30misread the clearing and went to the gully south of the control
9. straight
10. ran beside creek (fairly fast, even in the medium green) then up the spur to the control.
11. +00:30stayed on south side of stream all the way to the road. Straight to trail would have been 30s faster. Took trail until just past junction with trail heading south, then straight to control.
12. straight
13. right through parking lot to small trail
F. probably the slowest run-in of my career. Felt like I wasn't even moving in the mud.
