CNYO/EMPO Halloween Howl Day 2: Green Y
walk
| 1. | Up trailto slight bend then over shooting to go up reentrant which was vague. Kept L along hill top and straight in as Dave Webber came in from R. | ||||||
| 2. | To trail and all way then along marsh to end of cliffs and slight bend of trail. Up reentrant and in. | ||||||
| 3. | Got a bit confused heading out of 2 seeing rise to L until realized had compass on 3 to head out. Fixed that, climbed before cliffs and along close to cliffs, down contour but still too close. Stopped when saw no bag. Located of big drop and went to bag as KW jr punched. | ||||||
| 4. | To trail, across road, thru pits up spur. | ||||||
| 5. | Contoured keeping track of reentrants as Erin S and buddy came roaring past, one high/one low - each watching the other - hehe. Saw bag same time as they did. | ||||||
| 6. | They headed out way to L! I went down trickle, hit wall of dark gr and headed R around it hitting shooting range and nice driveway to road. Saw Peter pop out of field and across. Headed down road and in at about same place. Bearing and watch features carefully - not much to go on but also could see Peter's CSU shirt - thanks. Across broken ground, nose of rocky ground and then saw PG disappear and change direction out behind a gloomy rock mass - bingo! | ||||||
| 7. | Straight, across trail, out nose of spur seeing PG go L then back R and down about where I was heading. | ||||||
| 8. | Plan to head to trails then saw PG cross marsh. Didn't see trails, just cliffs, so kept to plan. 2nd trail W up first steep, R across small clearing, down rocky cliff, through open woods, L up to cliff - NO BAG!!! Awk... Thought was at higher cliff so down to nw, to a bag that had similar # but failed to check carefully. Argh - was Gr X/Red bag on next spur W so mispunch. 1st ever. | ||||||
| 9. | Headed N, crossed streamwhich came up very soon (no alarm bells) and N along slope, not NW along slope (again no alarm). Counted reentrants thos seemed to start too soon, but made it work. | ||||||
| 10. | Along animal track, could see Lyn at bottom of slope. Headed down to bottom but too R and to wrong reentrant as Erin appeared! Corrected off end of Pkg lot. | ||||||

| 12. | Trail to head of what I pictured as a big reentrant. Looked over and UP!! Had lines going wrong way. So climbed nose, by rocky grd, lt gr and in just as Erin came roaring S to bag. | ||||||
| 13. | Straight, slightly L to follow marsh, contour line. | ||||||
| 14. | Back to less steep slope , down and in. | ||||||
