Bad route choice Did not plan ahead +01:00 | didn't see the more direct-line trail until after the meet. I took the road left, missed the stone wall, and came in from the back using the trail to the N. | |||||
| 2. | path right (NE) to trail. Went from trail jct S of knoll to stream bend. | ||||||

| 4. | Lots of unmapped low growth slowed my process. Tried to go carefully on a direct line, but couldn't see the land forms for the undergrowth. Came back in from the wall and pond to the W. | ||||||

Bad map reading Confused parallel features Bad distance judgement Lacked confidence | Turned off trail too far S. Never saw the E-W wall, but slogged through the undergrowth, getting a bit wet. Reoriented on the rocky hillock SW of the flag. | |||||
| 6. | Slow going following the wall as a handrail. Came in from the wall corner, SW of marsh to cliff-pair to the seasonal marsh. | ||||||
| 7. | SW to trail, crossed the icy stream (gingerly, noting ice built up on one of the small trees closer to the water level =-O ), then ran trails until just W of the pond, where I cut SW. | ||||||

Bad map reading Bad compass work Confused parallel features | Plan was to go S of the hill to path, and cut to the road, but I must have exited the control in the wrong direction. When I first got to the small path and oriented the map, I was S of where I had planned. Ran N on the road, exiting NW on the trail, jumping off about 60m SW of the flag. Some confusion of the many similar features inside the circle. | |||||
| 9. | Headed NW, staying low, but crossed the marsh at its narrow point, and immediately crossed back, eventually finding the dry neck. Then due N on an unmapped (or misplaced?) trail that began to the E of the little knoll to the big trail, then W to the flag. | ||||||
