Race Evaluation

West Point A-Meet Day 1: Red X

piutepro

1. Well, my split is faster, about 3:37. This is my second course after doing Red Y. When I started, the start punch had been turned off. The cadets could not figure out my real time afterwards. I know I run faster then the first time on the same leg on Red Y.
2. Now it gets fun. Similar but not same legs. Have to pay attention and adjust the route.
3. Running in the heat is fun, kind of. Had a nap between the courses, since they run out of maps.
4. +00:45Again, coming in on a slightly different angle, I almost overrun the control, but at least can run easily without climbing down the cliffs.
5. Contours and hit the controls right on. Eat some candy to refuel.
6.
7. Go right around the green, then follow trail. No more water. Kind of tough to watch the empty jugs.
8. +02:30I run off, return to #7 after being insure if I punched. Now I know my brain is fried. - Take road and trail uphill, hope to save legs from cramping.
9. More candy. What great sport nutrition.
10. Decide for an all out trail jog. Grind my way uphill somehow. Running would be saying too much. Beautiful empty water jugs and cups.
11. Again, the empty jugs remind me of running in the desert and seeing hallucinations of springs. Something like that.
12. Am so tired, that I can barely run downhill. Pass the pipeline, see nothing than boulders. Find the control right away after I see the large cliff/hill behind it.
13. Now the legs are getting spongy. But I still read the map.
14. The final legs, across the trailers and their little gardens (not).
F. I finish my second red. It was fun and I got really a lot of orienteering and practice.
