UNO Boulder Dash: Saturday - Day 1 - Red

cmpbllv

1. P D P R 0 Follow the streamers
2. P D P R 4 Careful reading of terrain, contours in particular.
3. P D P R 3 +01:30Should have gotten out of the green rocky area or stayed closer to the line, slow going.
4. P D P R 4 Good split, slow and on the line
5. P D P R 5 Another strong split, reading well. A bit off the line but in runnable area
6. P D P R 2 Trail. Relatively fast.
7. P D P R 4 +01:45Got a bit left, didn't have a good enough picture to correct quickly. Should have looked for big Boulder by rock wall.
8. P D P R 4 +03:00Hesitation and drawn right by finger in lake, hill. Saw my hill but no control, so checked back to a brown control before going back to find mine was just hidden in unmapped light green. Grrrr.
9. P D P R 4 +00:30Bit right of the line, little slow.
10. P D P R 2 Straight at it, reading terrain
11. P D P R 3 +00:45StrIght at it, reading terrain, still hesitant and slow
12. P D P R 4 +03:00Went a bit left and missed the swamp and stream, so lost touch and was uncertain about the big swamp, but bailed and kept this error to a minimum
13. P D P R 4 +01:00Not really a good plan, got off left. Should have aimed a bit right and come off trail, stream, terrain. Strangely, this was my relatively fastest split!
14. P D P R 4 +02:00Direct was faster. Too slow and uncertain reading the stream on the way up. Not worth going around.
15. P D P R 4 +01:00Good use of rock wall, but got pulled too far right
16. P D P R 3 +00:30Should have stayed closer to the line
17. P D P R 5 +40:00Knew I was right, saw small rock wall. Somehow continued to blunder right and crossed swamp, but decided I was in the southern swamp. Crossing trail so close to stream felt wrong, but went left and trail got really swampy so decided I was in the right place. One swamp too high, poor distance estimation, made terrain match map all the way to where control should have been, then nothing made sense. Couldn't figure out where to bail, nearly gave up. Finally went west and picked up trail, relocated (could hear cars), trudged on in. Dammit!
18. P D P R 3 Right on the line, decent split without trying
F. P D P R +00:05Just didn't care

Total Time Lost - 00:55:05
