Race Evaluation

US Individual Champs, Day 2: Red-X

peggyd

1. Local meet, 16 March; we ran the Sunday courses from the US Champs. The Red course was the RedX. I'd run Green vetting and I wasn't up to the length of the Blue, so I ran Red. Taking it easy because of my hamstring soreness. Advantage of no leaves on the trees for this meet. Headed too far up the first hill (before the road) before I actually read my map and realized I wanted to contour more around.

11. I had been to this one twice on race day, checking and then picking up the e-punch box. So I had a good idea of what the area looks like.
12. Control was not in ditch but on spur next to it. Almost didn't check the code.

F. Beautiful warm (mid- to upper-sixties; felt very warm after long spate of cooler weather) day; woods were lovely. Hamstring didn't get any worse. Yay.
