1. | +00:05 | I hesitate to add comments to a novice course. I hesitate to even run a novice course. However, this may be the only O event in history in which a Standard Schnauzer competed. The human member of the team hesitated at the first building encountered on this leg.
2. | At control 2, we met our first other competitors, dad and son sat directly under the flag discussing the next leg. Careful punching was required.
3. | I carried Ziggy over stone wall. While intending to take splits, as we approached other racers, my hands were too full with map, punch card and taut leash.
4. | After punching, the stone wall was still there. Ziggy prefered to try on his own but still required assistance, just a little.
5. | We passed many young two-legged competitors on this leg.
6. | Many of the younger competition seemed intent on heading to parking lot. We knew better. We hit some snow on trail.
7. | |||||||
8. | The human took to the woods too early.
9. | For safety, I carried Z above the vines to get back on the road. The patches of snow on the road were very slick.
F. | We sprinted in to the finish but found no timer awaiting our arrival. |
