Boulder Dash 2007: Red Day 2

dyee

1. Ran blindly to trail, left trail at stream intersection, took bearing, couldn't make sense of the rick features and got lost. Caught by stream, attacked from stream bend, cautiously proceeded back to control.
2. Ran out to trail, hitting the water stop. Took bearing, but drifted way right. Came back to trail, attacked from boulder by the side of trail and bagged control
3.
4.
5.
6. Got to run some through the relatively open woods. Fun, collected features along the way.
7. Distracted by seemingly unmapped boulders SE of control. Control, however, was on boulder by obvious contour feature.
8. Took trails, attacked from trail end from the E
9. headed N to clear the green. then along the green to the trail.
10. Out to trail, missed trail junction. Hesitated, but ran past subtle marshy area to water. Turned around, attacked from trail and bagged control.
11. Collected features on way to control.. field, ditches, rootstock,.. almost there, but drifted off my line. Marshes didn't make sense to me, and missed control. Lost in thicked, logged woods, relocating by powerlines, along well mapped field and into control.
12. Bit turned around crossing under power lines, but eventually crossed stream at bridge after contemplating a swim. Took bearing from water stop/trail junction and carefully navigated to control It was hung high, so hard to miss.
13.
14.
15. Attacked from marsh, and walked right to depression with the wrong control in it. Couldn't figure where I went wrong, so relocated from marsh and tried again. Walked to *same* control. Turns out the control I kept walking to was actually in a mapped reentrant, but it was in light green and it looked like a depression to me. Thankfully continued along my line a bit and found control (but missed black X which was apparently a hunter's stand which I never saw)
16. Right to the Go control as it was the same as yesterdays.
F. Again, a super fast 80 meters :)
