Race Evaluation

CSU Training Weekend (Pawtuckaway): Memory-O

dness

1. I did this course with Pia. I suggested she take the first legs, since the orienteering seemed more difficult on the 1st, 3rd, etc. sections. She pretty much spiked every leg she led, having a slight bobble on one, but never checking the map.
2.
3. When I got to the N end of the hill, I forgot where I was going and had to check the map.
4.
5.
6.
7. Again, beside the control here, I forgot & had to check the map.
8.
9.
10.
11. Yay -- I remembered both legs.
12.
13.
14.
15. This was my first difficult leg, and I was happy with my plan & execution - follow swamp, over nose to marsh, the W up the slope, checking off the rock.
16. I got us there, but I was surprised to see some big rocks on the way. Were they unmapped or had I gone S instead of SE? I'm hoping the former.
17.
18.
19. Another case of having to check the map in the control area. I was too far west.
20.
21.
22.
F. We stopped running at the road junction where I stopped the clock (3:54 into the leg, 1:01:49 total) walked in. 2 more minutes to the finish is an estimate.
