Race Evaluation

Georgia Navigator Cup, Day 1: Blue

Tundra/Desert

1. At some point in the hypothetical future, the route will gain existence (1, 2). Just before the first control, the angle from the boulder to the N did not make sense. The control was to the SW of the boulder.
2. Bad route choice
+01:00
I think I should have gone straighter and more to the left than I went, utilizing the two trai segments. It would have saved 10 m of climb, and a lot of running through the soft woods.
3. Found #9.
4. The control was about a contour higher than shown.
5. Bad route choice
+01:10
I think the control feature was a tad more to the E of where shown. Did I really lose time here? pfc's split is scary. Edited: I guess the straight route was so much faster, with more climb! I failed miserably at this particular choice.
6. The control was more to the right than I had expected. I think it was mapped correctly, I just did not expect well.
7.
8. This rootstock (also served as Control 17) was a lot more to the E of where shown.
9. Retraced my steps on the way to #3, exactly.
10. There was another control in the same reentrant, about 50 m away and higher. I found it first.
11.
12. I was navigating as if I was on the way to #13 for a while, but it did not hurt me.
13. There were no knolls.
14.
15.
16.
17. I think there was a rental fingerstick with its bright magenta string on the ground, on the centerline of the spur just after leaving #16, one contour higher than #16. I did not figure that out, only later making a mental connection. I let GAOC know.
18. The control was about a contour lower than shown, in some greenbriar that threatened me with beheading.
19.
20. This control was about half a contour lower than shown.
21.
