1. | Even though I recorded splits, I accidentally erased them. New watch. Took a more or less straight approach to #1, but hesitantly.
2. | Right around the hill, then up, looking in the wrong place a couple of times. Didn't notice the orientation of the cliff.
3. | Straight, kinda. Pavlina caught up to me here.
4. | Followed the trail a little bit, then set off into the wild. Didn't see Pavlina until the very end -- we punched about the same time.
5. | Overshot the control, not reading stuff very well, not even understanding the stone wall. Fortunately Pavlina pointed me back to the reentrant as I was preparing to run past the stone wall.
6. | My legs were sore & tired already, so the slight uphill was a chore.
7. | Straight | ||||||
8. | Interesting leg. I went NE, with the intention of taking a more or less straight shot, but then in the vicinity of #2 I changed my mind and took the trails around. Saw George & someone else coming the other way, presumably from #9-#10. John Frederickson punched just after me.
9. | Followed John to trail. He left it before the reentrant to go up, I kept on the trail and avoided unnecessary climb.
10. | I really botched this one. I made a plan to head straight to the #3 area, without noticing the dark green between. When I got to the swamp I should have headed left to make a slight change of plans instead of following to the right and taking trails. When I finally got to the area, I missed a trail I was looking for then landed myself at the distinct hill W of the control. And didn't figure it out. Wasted a few minutes in the area.
11. | Another bad leg. Took the trail to the E, a good choice I think, but ran it too far (the trail continues farther on the ground than on the map) Didn't notice the very distinct reentrant on the map which would have the control a lot easier.
12. | Fairly straight. | ||||||
13. | Took high trail, cutting over at the right time.
F. | Nice run in. Thanks, Greg, for a nice course and for pre-printing the maps on photographic paper w/photo. ink. They worked out great. |
