Race Evaluation

2006 Sprint Series Finals: Sprint #1 - Long

Gil

1. +00:05Followed John and Vlad. I thought we should have sticked mroe to left but this was my first run with big guns, so, I thought I will follow them and see how it goes. Plus if I was planning to attack them then not on first flag but somewhere in the middle. At least 5 seconds lost on execution
2. Followed Vlag and John. Everything came up very quick. No complaints.
3. +01:00I thought we were going out way on right again but since this was first time with John and Vlad for me I was in shaddowing more. We found two extra flags before FINALLY getting our flag. Ok... big-guns are making mistakes like mortals do... From now on I will pay more attention to the map
4. John and Vlad went right again. I tried to stick to the light more closely then they did to shave some extra running.
5. This time I went wide right
6. Second group cought up during this leg. We went way to right again
7. Since second group cought us I have to fall back to plan B to advance (plan A was to advance by time). However vlad and john seem to be running fast and did not look tired. This is going to be rough...
8. Speed was high and almost everyone from second group was starting to pass me. No way to advance on time; John and Vlad look strong still. Shall I quit?
9. Not ready to Quit yet. Let's just hang around and see what developrs
10. +00:05I went more to right then others.
11. just follow the crowd. Speed is managable but fast enough that there is no way I could speed up if needed for finish
12. Another shadowing effort executed briliantly
13. Bad news. Eddie from secomnd groupd passes me saying something like "Let's swallow the first group". Good news - I noticed that Vlad's step does not look as confident as it was earlier.
14. There is no way I would beat younger, faster and much lighter John at finish and I am not counting on my finish speed to beet vlad. But I have to figure out where to pass vlad now. Does he even expect me to pass him? Almost everyone went right around the finish to next one. I was saving few meters and went through the finish. It was enough to pass Vlad.
15. Straight light to next flag.
16. Even there was path on right and very close to red line I was running just paralel to the path straight line in order to save few meters
17. I could see the bushes where the flag was supposed to be but I did not see the flag from my vintage point. Luckaly for me there were guys in front of me giving some idea where the flag was
F. My only convern here was vlad. Since I did not see him behind me I took it very, very easy to the finish. Probably I was slowest finisher not just in heat 1 but I could care less since I am advancing....
