1. 740m 5:49 9 +2:01 53% 73.9 7:51   740m 5:49 9 +2:01 53% 7:51 Two and a half weeks later I'm entering these. Other things have intervened, like moving, running a half marathon, and skiing opening day at Wildcat. Didn't start my watch til # 1. Time by difference. Ran to the trail north then from bend past the medium green.
2. 150m 1:28 9 +38 76% 68.6 9:46   890m 7:17 9 +2:39 57% 8:11
3. 640m 5:58 7 +1:20 29% 83.0 9:19   1530m 13:15 8 +3:59 43% 8:39 Long road run. Good half marathon training I'm thinking. Went around the bend to minimize distance in woods.
4. 490m 6:29 8 +2:08 49% 67.3 39 13:13   2020m 19:44 10 +3:57 25% 9:46 Very, very slowly this leg. Trying to read the detail and not lose contact. it wasn't easy but I checked off the wall end and the bunch of boulders on the invisible boundary.
5. 400m 4:55 4 +1:41 52% 82.1 12:17   2420m 24:39 7 +5:38 30% 10:11 Contoured from trail bend.
6. 770m 7:39 5 +1:18 20% 89.0 9:56   3190m 32:18 5 +6:18 24% 10:07 Followed Sharon through much too much up and down and cliffs and trash to the western trail; took much too long. Didn't see the southern trail. Couldn't catch Sharon on the trail, but got into the woods faster from the trail bend to north.
7. 200m 5:06 10 +2:11 75% 57.3 1:12 25:30   3390m 37:24 7 +8:29 29% 11:01 Followed Sharon again through the cutover medium green (I drank, she didn't), and up the hill. I relocated carefully on the hilltop while Sharon inexplicably wandered off northeast.
8. 265m 4:06 8 +1:00 32% 76.2 15:28   3655m 41:30 7 +7:56 24% 11:21 Cautious again, trying to stay on ridge top
9. 280m 5:12 7 +1:39 46% 71.5 18:34   3935m 46:42 8 +8:20 22% 11:52 Another potential problem leg. I headed south for the big green patch I'd run by on Brown saturday and came across the dot knoll in the reentrant. It's nice to look at the map and find this distinctive feature. Carefully on line down the hill looking for the depressions before the control.
10. 135m 1:59 3 +28 31% 88.0 14:41   4070m 48:41 8 +8:48 22% 11:57 Stayed too high; finally realized I had to go down.
11. 335m 4:24 4 +35 15% 92.2 13:08   4405m 53:05 6 +8:46 20% 12:03 Fast to second trail and attacked from junction. It was farther in than I expected.
12. 380m 5:43 4 +1:13 27% 85.7 15:02   4785m 58:48 6 +9:59 20% 12:17 Out the way I came in and across the bridge.South on trail to sharp bend then up reentrant with stream and right to control.
13. 565m 6:47 9 +1:48 36% 74.9 12:00   5350m 1:05:35 8 +11:30 21% 12:15 Wall and trail all the way. Ross Smith blasted past me into the control.
14. 850m 9:43 9 +3:03 46% 73.2 11:25   6200m 1:15:18 7 +14:18 23% 12:08 Much consideration of route, then stayed pretty much on line after leaving the trail at the field. Checked off the north end of marsh, then essentially to top of hill.
15. 340m 3:10 10 +55 41% 75.4 9:18   6540m 1:18:28 7 +15:13 24% 11:59 On line, but worried about how flat it was after the trail crossing.
16. 205m 2:03 5 +26 27% 89.4 10:00   6745m 1:20:31 8 +15:39 24% 11:56 Partly through marsh.
17. 345m ? -- -- -- 0.0 -- --   7090m ? -- -- -- -- Tippy-toed around north end of marsh by wall junction. No point in getting wet feet now!
18. 130m 4:02 -- -- -- 0.0 -- --   7220m 1:24:33 -- +16:14 24% 11:42 Finishing in a big rush I forgot to punch 17. Really excited about a perfect run, never having to go into error recovery mode andjust about spiking them all. My best run in a long time. If only I were 20 years younger it would have looked pretty good!
