Best tweet i saw today was referring to conservative populist politicians as “weaponizing stupidity”.

Kneehab 10:00 [3]

Maps sent to the printer for CTS Run (May 5th) and mini National Team Training camp (May 4th). It’s been a long time since i’ve been this excited and motivated to do course planning for a weekend of orienteering. It will be fun. This terrain is world class and i’ve already started thinking about some course designs for a possible future O champs. That’s still a long way away but it got me thinking of the approach I took when I designed the courses for the technically similar 2006 NorAm Champs at RR. GN has more open terrain with no chunky rock. Both areas have lots of detail broken up by large wetlands with beaver dams. That creates the potential for courses with interesting long route choices followed by rapid technical checkpoints like in 2006. Wil Smith won that NAOC in 2006 and having Wil and Katta to help with course testing and co-design would make a future GN-based champs pretty cool. The recent beaver activity here that altered water levels brought back memories of the 2006 Nor Am champs “epic foots rant”. Unfortunately that tempered my champs hosting volunteering enthusiasm a bit so i’m sticking to adventure runs and training camps for now.

Hanging ribbons for upcoming National Team Training Camp. Beautiful evening. Georgian Nordic was rockin' and blastin'.

Testing, testing!

Some final tweaks to the CTS course given the recent beaver activity (and mega rain).
