A highly informal training camp prior to the US Team WOC trials. Will encompass the HVO local meet at Saxon Woods, and a day somewhere in Harriman midweek. Jordan, Hannah and Kevin have helpfully put out streamers for the Harriman day, so if you're interested in doing that another time, let me know and I'll send you a map.

Rough schedule for the week:

Saturday 21st: Pond Mountain
Morning of basic tech training to warm up
Middle race in the afternoon
I/AliC will be hanging training controls for this day

Sunday 22nd: Chasing Start, fastest first at the HVO Saxon Woods meet based on the results of yesterday's Middle. This should help to pinpoint weaknesses to work on during the week. We will likely do another exercise that afternoon and then help Jeremy collect controls.

Monday: Paugusset
Fine O' Tech Day - brush up on the basics before you speed up!

- Clock relay to end.

Tuesday: Ansonia
Almost everyone messed up one of the first controls at West Point this weekend. Slopes, especially vague ones, need extra technique practise.

- Boulder Dash - the controls are all on boulders - but which ones?! Team race to end the day

Wednesday, Surebridge, Hogencamp & Polebrook Harriman bonanza!
Time to put the earlier stuff into practice and up your speed on a classic New England Area. Today's focus is simplifying hardcore terrain so you can move through it at a decent pace.
- Trains / Hare & Hounds
- Simplification & Map Memory - Pairs exercise
- Route Choice / Long legs - Pairs exercise

Thursday, Brooksvale & the campus that shall not be named:
Time to start taking it a bit easier in preparation for the weekend.
- Sprint relay at Brooksvale
- Sprint tech practice back at the campus that shall not be named

Friday: Day of freedom
I'm not going to prepare anything in advance for Friday, as I guess people will want to prepare for the trials in different ways. If people want another session today, there's plenty of other maps and I can plan something for them during the week. Otherwise chill out, explore Yale, go for an easy jog round East Rock, or eat lots of Froyo.


For now I just need to know numbers, and whether there are any specific things people would like to practice that I've missed out.

If you live nearby and fancy attending just one or two of the sessions, also let me know. Finally, if you'd like to plan a day or hang some streamers at an area, volunteers would be much appreciated.

Those travelling from afar can fill up my apartment to start with - if we get more than my apartment can take, you'll have to sweet talk other New Haven residents :) It may be a good idea to find somewhere closer to HVO land for the first weekend to save some driving, but it's only just over an hour to the races. Drives will be an hour max aside from the Harriman day, which is a bit longer. You'll need transport, a little bit of money for map printing, and to buy me food for the week :)
