On Saturday June 3rd, teachers and coaches have a rare opportunity to participate in a workshop on coaching the sport of orienteering.

The content is organized in a way that provides tools to teach kids in a way that is different than most major US sports programs today, while introducing components of new and successful coaching and educational systems from around the world.

Taking this course will provide the concepts to coach in your own way while using principles that work every time. This course builds and expands upon the existing Orienteering USA coaching curriculum.

Having this knowledge will give you a leg up in future program development. It also will enable you to explain the nature and benefits of the sport in very simple ways to people.

This workshop also can influence how teachers work with their kids on a daily basis, in contexts outside of orienteering, both in managing and guiding students.

Recommended for: orienteering coaches, Physical Education teachers, teachers who would like to use orienteering in their schools, Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program teens (working for Navigation Games), orienteering club event organizers.

Schedule
8:30-1:00pm - Lecture and discussion, with one break
1:00pm - break for lunch
2-5:00pm - optional outdoor hands-on learning, designing and running orienteering activities

Cost:
$10 adults
Free for juniors <20

Sunday's Youth Series event at Danehy Park will feature Erin Schirm on hand to answer questions, go more into depth on any topic, or meet future National Team athletes and/or parents.
