Have you considered ankle braces like the active ankle (which I always use when running off trail) or the type that Ali (and Alex?) use? I think it's Push or something like that.

I know it's better to have strong ankles so it's good to keep working on them but----using a brace until it's really 100% recovered (could be a year!) whenever you are off trail is a good precaution to keep from continually re-injuring it. Also, using a brace lets you keep training without fear of injury. If you try the active ankle, I can give you a couple hints that should make it work better for O'.

By the way, thanks for the write-up on the relay. I like to hear how the race went down from the runners perspective.

It does take about a year, sometimes more, for the ligaments to properly heal. The tendons and muscles heal faster, but it is very important to keep the ligaments protected with a brace even as you strengthen the ankle. Can't do one without the other.

Glad to see this stuff in your log! Good work!

Yea, I will have to find a real brace soon. I looked into the one Alex uses, but also the one Ethan has, but they are both protecting too high on the foot/ankle. My injury is actually a little lower than the ankle itself, so I want to find some sort of strong band which will avoid me stepping again on my own foot. In the mean time I'm just biking 'cause I'm a little afraid to hurt it for the nth time..
