I have had some success covering blisters with duct tape while backpacking. Not sure how it would hold up in orienteering conditions. You might want to give it a test beforehand and see if it works.
Thanks,
Sounds like a plan, although I think I will put something directly over the blister or the tape will end up with my skin on it.
Maybe I'll try it starting with my swim on Friday - because I'm not looking forward to chlorine water on the open area.
I use Badger Balm for runs and backpacking; although it is preferred to be used as a prevention technique. Provides an extra layer of skin.
Usually it is advised to not break the blister b/c it toughens your skin, but they will probably break while you run anyways if they are still soft so it wouldn't be that bad of an idea to do so depending on how your week goes. Just be sure to use antibiotic cream...
I experienced this at Batsto...
Mole skin is usually best.
But I found this answer of mole skin and duct tape:

I was going to mention mole skin too. I just always have issues getting it to stay in place if I sweat.
Swimming over your head? No socks? Len you are a wild man!
@ Erik, The blisters were ripped open before I finished orienteering so no need to worry about that anymore. I have used mole skin before but not with duct tape. I like that idea and think it may work. (thanks Robert)
@Ann, I'm going to create my own sport - an orienteering hybrid. Because straight orienteering is just boring. :) ... kidding. If I could do it better, I wouldn't get myself into these spots.
But if I would have to choose between running a course in Crocs or running without socks, the Croc option is much easier.
You could call your new orienteering technique aSockCroctic Method
:)
I would not run that race in Crocs, I would not run it without socks.
No socks, never Crocs. I would not run that race that day, not even in the best of May.
That last one is most seussical.
So, shall we start the DVOA swimmers club?
You mean O-swimming right?....
I was going for seuss glad it came off
That was nice Dr. Seuss! Maybe we need to write an Obook for the news letter about swimming in the streams with crocs or socks?
I started one about the Croc adventure, but got sidetracked and didnt finish. At this point, I'm really adding up experiences on what not to do on orienteering day. Soon, I will have enough for a book :)
Time to store an emergency o-bag in the car, full of decent footwear and spare socks! (I once had to stop and buy socks on the way to an event, realizing I forgot them.)
Several years back, I glued the bottoms of my feet back together with new-skin, moleskin, and band aids so I could do day 2 of West Point after getting the most horrible rubs and blisters of my life on day 1. (I always open and drain them, even though you aren't supposed to do it. Never caused a problem and they seem to heal faster.)
And I went swimming like that at Hibernia... two different times... and basically went white water rafting at QOC Glen Artney, only without the raft...
I need to do that. And I will NEVER run without socks again.
Re: O-swimming - I just looked at RG and Karl & Erik had similar tracks to 17 but I was a bit farther down stream and must have hit it just right... or wrong.
I couldn't imagine getting swept down a stream as just the depth was very surprising.
