Used it today to smooth out some maps, so I could use them on DOMA. And yes, they do work upside down, so I tried to boil the pot on it, couldn't wait to see if it would work, was taking to long

I was thinking about this today - they heat up when you turn them on and have them standing up so no reason why it wouldn't work upside down.

I thought this was going to be a post telling David to take iron supplements or something ;)

I wondered if someone would think that ;)

It just seemed to have poor heat transfer across to the pot, I think a iron isn't as hot as we think it is

How did the iron conversation start? Reminds me of the time we cooked pancakes on an electric hotplate without a frypan.

I think we can blame Dave, but why it started, I dont know

Tried it a bit more today, water gets hot, but not enough to cook in

Sound experimental set up there. A shame the idea doesn't seem to work.

Just don't melt the colander!

Whoops! But in someways, that proves the point, the iron never got hot enough to melt anything...
