Would some 1:5000 maps help you?

At the Tradition? Zack and I made a visit to Rockledge this afternoon, and would have been pleased to encounter you at the Tradition instead. Keep us posted on your good ideas.

It was spur of the moment. I had my clubs, figured I try to play somewhere down closer to New Haven, but decided it was smarter to get through Hartford first. Stopped at the Tradition, thinking if it was crowded I'd just head home, but the tee was wide open....

Picked up a guy to play with for the last 4 holes. He asked how I like my D1. Oh, I love it, I said. Which is true.

I hope to. If you can bring some, that would be great.

Why don't you scan into your changes so far and send them to me. I can bring you the updates.

What is a D1? It's nice to love something. I'll have to keep the Tradition in mind. Rockledge is getting awfully crowded these days.

Titleist D1, 10.5 degrees loft, stiff shaft, very, very nice. Might help me get out in your landing zone.... :-)

I demo'ed the 10.5 degree D1 yesterday. Couldn't hit it. Hitting a draw was impossible. Plus 10.5 degrees seemed like a lot of loft for a driver - I was hitting very high.

But I could see the potential; the ball left the tee with more authority than I've ever experienced.

Did you eventually adapt your swing to the design? Or did you just grab the D1 and hit down the middle immediately?

Well, the pro had a launch monitor, so first I tried out my existing Cobra, a couple of years old, 10.5, regular shaft. The numbers were off the chart, he said, too high a launch angle and too much spin. And my complaint had been that I never got any roll.

Tried a couple others, better, tried the D1, first couple of tries were dead perfect. Numbers right where they should be. I told the pro, you know those were a couple of really good swings.

Tried the 9 degree, also stiff shaft. Sliced two or three, didn't feel right.

Eventuall hit about 75 with the D1, the usual mix of outcomes given the swing variabilites, but the better ones were certainly really good. So I was sold.

Change in swing was at the beginning of the year. Trying to get much more width. It's helped a lot in cutting down wildness. Always used to fight a hook with the occasional shot way right. Much less of that now due to the swing. And I think that gets me better results with the D1.

Who knows, I'm just really enjoying it, and my power rating, or whatever it might be called (yards per pound) has certainly gone up (1.8?).

Now that you're up to 1.8, I'd suggest multiple milk shakes daily to get your drives over 300.
