In my experience, biking, although a relief from the pain, is not helpful to their healing as they can remain tight.
I advocate lots of back of leg stretching and eccentric heel drop exercises.

I think a little too overzealous with the biking over Memorial Day is what caused their irritation in the first place. I can't run, so might as well bike and I overdid it a bit.
I'm hoping to be at Charlies, though running looks very unlikely... But its a mighty fun time even without the orange and white bags...
