Beth has 2 yellow lady slippers - this is first year either has bloomed in years (10?) - since the first year. She's
most pleased! (her pic, too).
The ones at Stratton are pink, and short (about 8" high), smaller than the ones I used to see growing up playing in the woods (in the pre-Lyme days, I think). This is the time of year for them in the northeast. Thanks for sharing Beth's photo!
Here's one growing about 10 meters from my deck in hemlock shade.
Lots of them at Sessions today, but didn't stop to admire them, much.
Ooo, pretty! Thanks for sharing. We don't have enough hemlock woods in our neighborhood. I remember also seeing lady slippers in a protected space in Pittsfield not far from where Glen works. And at Five Ponds. All in late May/early June.
We have several patches in our back woods, including
these.
