I pace counted, used compass carefully and ended up in the control-less copse too.
Lots of unmapped copses so that was a worrisome moment! (which one to choose?)
Nice write-up. Very easy to run "with" you.
thanks for the write up on #13. I had a little discussion with the setter and vetter afterwards about using veg feature
Thanks. I ended up seeing the CP in the distance, standing maybe 20-30 m NE of the correct location, you can tell where my errant ways turned into a straight line. Even with all those unmarked veg features, it was easy to pick the correct one: location, size and nature of trees (map marked as white and not green). Also, very easy to take that bearing. Made quite a few O mistakes during this event but this wasn't one of them ;-)
I took your gps track and quickrouted it, as an electronic vetting.
Was in the right place and so were you! Nice job
I didn't have GPS going but came up with exactly the same analysis. Unfortunately, I checked farther north and west before slowly heading towards 14 and then suddenly saying "@$#%it, there it is!", several minutes later than desired. And some people who found it easily, didn't believe me at first ;)
Ultimately I'm not too peeved with the setting, but it's a great example of why you should not set in areas that are sketchily mapped - summarized as "if there's any question at all, put it somewhere else."
