Is the Gitmo equivalent as I recall- notorious in the 70's and 80's- complete with hunger strikes. Good place to stay away from.

I believe so. It was the internment for all of the IRA captures. The terrain there is awesome though. I believe they had the UK champs there 10 years or so ago and the all Irish champs there 3 years ago.
