Work4justice:
I am looking for a pair of lightweight, quick dry, preferably can convert to capri length, or zip off that can handle bushwhacking, particularly thorns in my nothern climes. I have typically worn compression/running tights. But, not sure if that is my best choice for longer than sport races. Any recommendations? Thanks! :)

Mr Wonderful:
REI Sahara pants are serviceable. I used my for o and AR, including a 24. I have started to stitch them up a bit, and the zipper on one of the legs was destroyed in a recent rogaine, so now I guess now they are shorts. But unless someone chimes in with some suggestions, I am likely to just get another pair for the next race, as they went through a lot.

The stock belt does suck; mine was missing before the end of the first o meet.

They are not very thorn resistant; I use Zitex gaiters for that.

Your usual AR promoter swears by Rail Riders, but the one store that offers them by my house only has a limited selection, aimed more at the fishing market it seemed.

I've used Axis Gear Atak pant (http://www.axisgear.ca/store_product.cfm?product_i...) for several big races including Patagonia -- my only gripe is insufficient pockets!

I use tights that have shin and knee guards sewn on made from Neoprene wet suit material - saved me some solid whacks and thorns.
