Has anyone tried the newer Altra trail shoes? I'm always worried about lateral support in minimalistic shoes, as contouring is not fun when your foot is sloshing around creating hotspots, but I'm intrigued by the Altra zero drop idea.

I have just about worn out my first pair. I think they are great shoes. Your forefoot definitely has some additional room to more around, but it hasn't been problematic for me. I have used them on short (red O course) events and the most recent 24 hour ROGAINE in the Black Hills. I also have a pair of the Instincts for road workouts.

I think I'll try them out. Thanks. I don't think anyone sells then in Northern California, so I'll have to buy online. I think I'll try out the Lone Pine version.
