Fran and I hope to meet you at NAOC. I'm running M60. We are staying at PEEC.

We´ve already met ;)
Didn´t get to talk to you after the race since I had to take my daughter to the hospital for an X-ray. She had a bad ankle sprain but nothing was broken.

We´re at PEEC cabin B2.

I've heard that shopping in NYC is good therapy for a sprained ankle. I hope that she gets a lot of therapy this week. :) And I hope that it is feeling much better by now.

With small US A-meet fields, I've rarely stayed with a train (you, Walter, and sometimes others) so long. I did maintain map contact but sure moved with a lot less hesitation. We did split and rejoin a few times between 4-13 on Middle. Your yellow jacket did help!

Then my Long run Saturday was nearly solo - no M60's and other orienteers were nearly always crossing or coming at me. I was pleased with legs 1-14, then lost 5 minutes coming in.

I'm glad that we had a chance to talk several times this weekend - great venue and accommodations for chatting.

Sorry to hear about the ankle!

She must have declined the reporter's request for a photo:

Matthew: Thanks for the link - interesting read even without the mention of my daughter (who normally doesn´t want to be photographed - and I especially understand her reasons this time...).

Rick: Yes, New York shopping is doing wonders :) Maria is walking almost normally now after spending a whole day at Woodbury Commons Outlet. Crutches were left behind ("forgotten") when we took the bus into the city after returning the rental car...

It was nice meeting you - and the "train" on Friday was a challenge to stay with even for me at times. We did split up for many of the legs and minor mistakes by all of us made it even more exciting. Did you visit Sweden at all when Zan was living there? If not, why not come over to experience some Swedish orienteering in considerably larger fields...

Nice to hear that Maria had a 'normal' sprain with smooth recovery. Good treatment helped as well.

I joined the Junior Team trip in about '96 as co-leader when they hit Fin-5 and Oringen. Great trip (Zan, Sam, Ross were among the juniors). I'd like to think that my orienteering has improved since then (I enjoyed the challenges but struggled, especially in Finland). Haven't been back since - very tempting now!

Our Estonian cabin neighbors tempted me with the Estonian multi-day. Hmm, that's not far from Sweden. :) We shall see.....

Why not an extensive tour of Estonia, Finland (WOC) and Sweden? They are all close neighbours and travel is easy (if not cheap...)
