Maybe adding a hour to the time limit to allow for a slower pace or even a little walking might be another option. This group could start an hour earlier and still be part of the fun at the end.

Gotta get a shirt! Maybe M/F 65 and above. Even the Boston Marathon raises the qualifying time by ages.

How many F60+s do you see finishing the 'Goat?

Yup, good ideas, will have to ponder them and others.

Interesting to recall that the original inspiration for the BG in the early years was the Boston Marathon, especially the mass start (so more social beforehand) and everyone runs the same course (so more social afterwards), neither of which was common in O' at the time.

But do they earn T-shirts?

JJ has already proposed something very fine in this regard, which for the moment will remain under wraps. :-)

What about a continued take on the goat theme - so Billygoat Gruff or BillyGruff ??

Another way to do it would be somewhat similar to what the THOMASS races do -- put in a handicap system.

For example -- based on age (and maybe gender), you might get more skips if you are old enough or young enough (or maybe female enough). Still the same course, start together, same time limit. Consecutive skips might be allowed, or not. And someone, unwilling to admit their age, could still choose to do the same as the current rules, one skip, or even do them all, as occasionally is done.

So maybe -- 50+ gets an extra skip, 60+ gets two extra, 70+ gets three extra, 16- gets an extra. Perhaps female gets an extra, though not in the hotshots' age range.

Course setting could be interesting, as would the skip decisions.

Still just thinking....

Something to take into consideration is what it means to "finish" in a historical context. There are lists of who has finished a certain number of Billygoats, how much cumulative time people have taken, the oldest and yougest finishers, etc. With various perturbations of the event, there are different possibilities as to who gets added to the archival spreadsheets, and in what manner. It may matter, or it may not.
