Sorry to hear that mate, its really frustrating. I'm sure you'll hit your next target

Gutted mate, not sure what else you could have done to get selected. What's the point of selectors giving you a list of races to compete in and then they ignore the results of those and just pick the usual guys anyway.

Sorry to hear that mate, I hope that these road runners can stick at it when it gets tough or they aren't doing as well as they had hoped. Will you still do Jungfrau in brown, puple and yellow?

Chin up, come and whup some ass at the remaining champs races instead

sorry to hear that Rob, I don't know much about fell running (apart from that you have to be a fucking animal to be good at it) but know that you have put in a whole heap of effort. as Rhesus says, keep that chin up and stay positive!

well seeing as none of them are on the startlist for Borrowdale, figured at any of the previous English champs races and didn't even show up to the 3 Peaks, it's patently bollocks. Bit to go between the teeth at Borrowdale though!

If you are really pissed, appeal! Why not? Being selected isn't always about niceties, and if you have done the work to warrant even a fair look then why not.

cheers everyone. it is annoying but totally outside of my control; I have decided not to try and get an entry to Jungfrau as I would be running for all the wrong reasons. Plan A now is to smash the rest of the English Champs races, do the UK Cup final and Compass Sport cup and have a nice holiday with Clare somewhere nice and hilly. All good.

Greg - I did think about challenging the selections but because it is "all known form" there is loads of wiggle room; I will be speaking to the selectors about the process and to give and get some feedback - there is no way I would try to get selection for this race again if it was to be picked on a similar basis in the future.

just read this, gutted for you mate. Sounds like typical British conservatism (corruption!). Selectors are generally out of touch with the athletes in most sports, sometimes you wonder how so many idiots can get in such positions of power.

Tough call Rob but there is a good race at the end of October to aim for... See you there hopefully!
