what up with that? is it a recurrence that flares up now and then, or new episode? hope i'm not being too nosy.

I suspect that its a new Lyme infection though I haven't talked to the doctor yet, I've been off meds and feeling great for over a year. I'm also thinking my recent ITB flareup may be due to inflammation of the knee associated with Lyme and not any inherent problems with the ITB. We'll see if the ITB subsides with the Lyme.

Did you see the Courant article yesterday about Lyme caused arthritis. Yale study indicates the long term symptoms could be caused by dying parts of the spirochetes that find their way into cartilage of the joints. The body's immune system response to these proteins then causes the pain. Because the bacteria are gone, or dead, antibiotics won't work. They haven't got that part yet, but this is a new path and shows that long term problems exist.

@walk - wrote a response but must not have hit the send button the the other day. Delirium will do that to you I guess. Didn't see the article but I think that's been the consensus for a while now. But in many chronic cases such as my previous bout(s) if the spirochete has been in the system a while it has the ability to hide from antibiotics real well and may only resurface intermittently. Here's hoping my current case is 100% new and hasn't had a chance to 'go deep'
