to read this nice post, then J-J was in the air. I like the ending of the story and the conclusion :)
See you in Germany!
J-J comes off as quite the fearless hero of your little story. Congratulations J-J! Those of us who have been
following your hang gliding career are impressed by this third-party report. Perhaps you've been overly modest in your write-ups?
A glider with a pilot is pretty sedate & realizes the fly-like-a-bird instinct or there's the
ultralight. I've always liked the idea of the latter but haven't done anything about it.... Have done the former.
We've had a powered paraglider buzzing around today, another fly-like-a-bird device that could be interesting except for the buzzy noise. Seems to have more flexibility for our non-wind conditions.
Elapsed time for the flight was 0:02:24, my shortest flight ever from a mountain site (training hill and beach flights have been shorter). It's also very likely the latest in the day I've ever launched. Might have been a questionable move to launch with so little wind -- I didn't have a lot of clearance over the trees, and therefore not much margin for error. But it beats hiking down.
I'm a couple of posts behind on the blog that Clark linked to, one of those flights being moderately cool. But I'm not in the same league as the other pilots around here. The day after this short flight that I had, there was a great day at Ascutney, with a couple of pilots making it to the ocean (90+ miles).
