It sure seems your weather is nicer than ours, 10C and cloudy, damp.
BG weather was near perfect though. Had a wonderful time running with Hill.

Just to put a damper to your happy feelings - it´s supposed to snow on Friday and Saturday! Maybe not at Tiomila, but definitely in Borlänge according to the forecast :(

Sam loves running in the snow!

Running in it, sure. Watching the rest of 10mila in it... not as fun.

I feel the same. It´s OK to run in if you´re smart enough to wear enough warm clothes. Standing/sitting around watching the rest of the relay for ~15 hrs will be considerably colder - even with reasonable layers of clothing you tend to get cold in the end.

Yeah, I'll run in freezing rain and enjoy it, but if the weather's shitty I do not plan to stay up all night outside watching a bunch of stinky boys run around in the dark. My 'bed' will be waiting for me a short 900m from the arena. :-)

I´m not running at all - but I´ll stay up through most of the freezing night and watch stinky boys running around in the dark - that´s how crazy I am.
I guess the fact that I´m doing this for the 46th straight year adds to the 'nerd factor'...

If it's nice, I'll be up watching. Otherwise I'm going to try to score a real bed, or failing that I will huddle in the tent. With EOC's next week I don't want to exhaust myself staying up in cold rain.

Ha ha Cristina! If your "bed" is warm enough to sleep in if it snows, I'll be very surprised. It was below freezing the first year I went, and it was fine when we were all packed in, but when the boys either side got up to run, it was ice, ice cold. I decided to get up and run around watching after that.

If they're selling porridge in the morning it feels like the most amazing thing you have ever eaten.

I wish I could be there. Have fun everyone!

Agree - the most sensible thing to do would be to actually NOT stay up watching at all. I remember years ago when a couple of Norwegian runners (that later became World Champions) arrived to run the first two legs and then went straight home again. That would be the only certain way to stay out of getting cold/exhausted/sleep deprivated etc.

I might be heading home after I race. It will depend on the weather.

We have beds in the nearby barracks, and I assume that'll be much warmer than the tents. Hopefully... Sam, you could probably nap in one of our beds if you needed to.

The forecast right now actually looks pretty good, though not balmy. I'd like to stay up and cheer for the boys, but we'll see how long I actually last!

Whooo, barracks! Good call.

There's always room for a decent length nap during the long night.

Enjoy! Very jealous!

Yep, the nap is my plan as well :)

Yay, SNOW!!!

...but that is here this morning when everything was white again.

Forecast for Linköping doesn´t look too bad actually.

Yeah, forecast as of packing time (right now) looks okay, but I've learned a thing or two from the Norwegians - I've packed my down jacket (as well as rain jacket and rain pants). (And layers.) (Several.)

I packed all the warm clothes I own :)

But by next week it will be warm and balmy in Orsa.....right?
May 4, 2012 12:58 PM #

Of course - Dalarna is always nice in May (snowing only today...)

Warm clothes are always a good idea at 10mila.
Even in warm weather it´s still early in the season and nights are considerably colder. Only once - as far as I remember (1990?) - has it been possible to walk around in shorts all night.

Hej, ladies (and guys, but who needs them), get together in front of the camera and wave to us, there are at least 2 Tiomila watching parties after Saturday's races at West Point, and we miss you so dearly :). I figure, we will start watcing it somewhere during 1st leg, 10PM your time).

I´ll see if I can arrange a special moment some time during the quiet hours with Ola Jodahl who will be the main speaker ;)
