Approaching the spectator control, I told myself, "Good run so far. Short loop left. Be careful." Then I proceeded to bobble 3 of the remaining controls. (Dropped low on our 14; set compass from 14-16 instead of 15-16; and missed 17 50m right. I dropped from Silver to Bronze.
I wonder if my tired, out-of-control brain had misinterpreted "spectator control" as "last control". Since the last control is usually very easy (trail junction or end of flagged chute), I usually survive being brain-dead. Not true with a loop left - good course design!
