The organiser mentioned at the race I was at yesterday that the 2012 Intercounties (presumably McCain too) will be the Shining Tor race at Errwood Reservoirs, 5.9m & 1600ft, although no date given just yet. So it might be worth a trip over for a run/recce later on this winter?
it's a good race, ran it twice in the past, sharp uphill to start then a bit more undulating, q more steeper climb and a bit more undulations before a final banzai descent through the wood, then a sting in the tail with a steep 100m road section to the finish. I presume the map is on the Goyt Valley Striders website - all their other race maps are.
cool - yes definitely up for a reconaitre.
