I've always enjoyed the DVOA training weekend, sounds like it was worthwhile once again. Hickory Run can be tricky. I wish we had a similar training event to kick off the season out here.
Measuring distance - by pace count, time, whatever you prefer - always seems to be harder for me when I transition from military training or rogaining (maps are usually between 1:25,000 to 1:50,000), when I'm running on an unfamiliar scale (1:15,000 rather than 1:10,000 gave me issues in Laramie this summer), or when it's just plain been awhile. It's always important, but I try to consciously measure pace on every single leg if I'm out of my O groove.
How'd the rest of the weekend go?
A good point about when not in the groove ma'am. I know it's the first real course of the year so definitely have time to settle back in.
Rest of the weekend wasn't too bad. Some training exercises Saturday morning and afternoon- pretty standard fare.
