I kinda like how people share their training with me. For a couple of years in my building I was not the "athletic one" because my friend Jared was training for a marathon and so he was considered the runner. But after a few years of commuting everywhere on foot, I got the reputation as being the runner of the lab. This does mean that people I don't know very well lead every conversation off with "So did you run to work today?"
I sometimes wish that people would think that orienteering was something they could train for and succeed at.
Yeah, would be nice to get that reaction for o really! =) Mostly the runner reactions I get are people rattling off stories of how they get lost anytime they look at a map...
I call those the "I did that once!" camp. In the UK is usually involves rain, scouts, mud and getting lost "hilariously." People have no idea how little I want to hear their I did that once story.
Or the 'I have a son who's into hiking/cross country/geocaching" responses. Like when you tell someone you study math and they respond with "I'm terrible at math/I haven't done math since grade 11."
