I think
this is it, for the driving-directions impaired...
And I think
this is the Sprint location on Saturday.
At least that's where I'll be driving to. Event officials with better links, or corrections, please add. Thanks.
close enough Wyatt. just look for signs.
Well that was odd. When I clicked on Wyatt's link for the Billygoat, the balloon that popped up with the location had the town name spelled out in Cyrillic.
Oh, come on. Follow the directions on the WCOC website and I'll make sure there are signs up for you to follow when you get close. You're orienteers....
Reding, not Redink, which I think is the proper way to transliterate Redding (no need for the double consonant).
Hey, off topic here, but Joe, Steve and I are looking for info about John Rogers arriving at the Billygoat in 1986 by helicopter. Who has details??
From Gagarin:
It’s true.
He had a friend who needed to do a few extra hours, so John signed him up to fly him out to Mt. Tom. Checked with me a couple of days earlier to make sure it was OK. I told him where there were any overhead wires to watch out for. And maybe 15 minutes before the start he showed up. Very cool.
Sent you an email, Donna.
Can't let the facts get in the way of a good story, but JJ has another version:
Canada? No, John has never lived in Canada, he was a resident of Worcester at the time. The NEOC-MQ group (which did not include me) arrived in a lame "team vehicle" which was just a car with pieces of paper taped to the sides that said "MQ", but they were completely upstaged. John had arranged with Peter to get clearance for a friend to drop him off by helicopter, and he disembarked dressed in black O clothes with a bib number that said "XX", so he was Racer XX. He may have had some kind of Lone Ranger style mask as well, I don't remember for sure. I think his wife had probably come by car so that the helicopter didn't have to pick him up at the end. The start/finish was not at Lake Bray that year, it was at the base of the ski area, where there was fortunately enough room for a helicopter to land. Racer XX was considered to be a NEOC-WM member, giving them enough style points to easily win the club award.
SO, REGARDLESS OF THE TRUTH IN THESE STORIES, I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHO CAN BEAT EITHER OF THESE STYLE POINTS ON SUNDAY?
No disagreement between what Peter said and what I said, we both just mentioned different details.
I'm pretty sure that field where we'll be parking is big enough for me to land a hang glider in, but there's no place nearby to launch from. Maybe someday...

Exactly.
