Lodging in Oxford is almost all gone. The Butler Inn at (513) 523-6306 reports that they still have 10 double rooms and 10 queens. Only a couple of these are officially non-smoking, but Regional General Manager Travis McMichael says "we can take extra measure that will insure a fresh room. Just let us know and we would be happy to do this for you." This location is on US 27 on the north side of Oxford and is very convenient to all events.
I have a room to share at the Holiday Inn by Sharon Woods. It's next to the Motel 6.
It is under new management since the most recent of the reviews JanetT links. But, I haven't personally stayed there in many years (no reason to since I live in Oxford).
The fee increase was set to take effect at midnight Eastern time. I've changed it to midnight Pacific.
We've extended the deadline. If you enter before this Sunday, March 20, the online system will still let you in without charging a late fee.
Flying Pig Child Sitting - We have had NO requests for child sitting at the Flying Pig, so we are not planning to have a sitter. If there is an emergency need, let us know and we'll see if we can line someone up. Friday there is a small indoor area at registration, and Saturday we will be within a couple hundred meters of Hueston Woods Lodge which has indoor common areas and video game room. Sunday, there are no indoor facilities.
Reminder, fees go up by $5 per day (or $12 for all 3 days).
Hi Mike,
Are the ultralong races mass start or interval starts?
The UltraLong will have preassigned interval starts.
Also, the Ultralong will have a seeded "red group" to enhance spectating. The top ranked M-21+ and F-21+ runners will be started at the end of the start window. There will be radio reports from the halfway point (Bring some really good binoculars and you might catch a glimpse), and also from a few controls before the finish, with live announcing of what we hope will be an exciting race to the finish. Most other runners should be finished in time to enjoy the spectacle!
The 2010 COC sprint in Ottawa had a similar "Red Group" that did enhance spectating experience.
